A Community in Transition

Waller County is transitioning from a traditional rural Texas county to an urban area. We are growing quickly. And while the population grows, the commitment to time-honored values that have made Texas great continues. Since 2012 the county has experienced steady continuous growth in population. We are now considered the last frontier for the immediate Houston region. With over 24 new residential subdivisions in various stages of development, with about 30,000 new homes planned, the population is set to double within the next 12-15 years

Population Projections

From 2022 through early 2023 there have been 24 residential plats filed with the county. There will be an estimated 30,000 new homes which will drive the near and mid-term growth. We expect the population to double between 2030 and 2035. A strong economic development program has supported the trend in population expansion. In just the last 5-7 years we have attracted some of the best companies around the globe. Further, around 6,000 new jobs have been added over the past 10-15 years. Jobs continue to be added further driving the need for new homes in the area. Aside from a significant economic downturn, we expect this trend to continue for the next decade.

With all the new proposed residential development coming, we are very confident in our near-term projections. Projecting from limited decades-based data makes it harder to project too far out. Since most of the county is unincorporated, unless adjacent land owners option for annexation, we expect that most growth will happen outside of the current city limits.
